Effat University is a pioneer in Saudi women's education. Founded in 1999 at the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Effat Al Thunayan (Effat University، About), wife of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, to become the first exclusively women's private university in the Kingdom. Today it operates under the King Faisal Foundation (the same foundation that sponsors Alfaisal University), giving it institutional stability and international accreditations.

It is a research university, English-medium, and designed to produce women leaders in fields historically restricted to women in the region: architecture, engineering, entrepreneurship, and design. The campus is in Jeddah, with a distinctive architectural design reflecting its mission.

Career Outcomes، Where Alumnae Work

Effat alumnae hold leadership positions across diverse sectors:

| Field | Typical employers | |---|---| | Architecture & Design | Engineering consultancies in Jeddah and Riyadh, real-estate developers (Red Sea Global, Amaala, NEOM), interior and graphic design firms, entrepreneurship (many alumnae have founded their own studios) | | Engineering & Computing | STC, tech companies (Salla, Ather, Tamara), tech consulting, women-focused tech entrepreneurship | | Business & Economics | Saudi banks (particularly investment and advisory divisions), PIF, entrepreneurship funds (Badir, Monshaat), major family businesses in Jeddah (Bin Laden, Suleiman Al Rajhi, Olayan) | | Psychology | Hospitals and psychiatric clinics, Ministry of Health (mental health division), private and international schools, private practice (psychology clinics) | | Early Childhood Education | International schools and nurseries in Jeddah and Riyadh, Ministry of Education, digital-education content firms |

Notable point: Effat alumnae appear densely across Saudi women's leadership sectors, particularly in architecture, entrepreneurship, and mid-to-senior management. The university intentionally designs its programs to produce leaders, not just employees.

What Makes Effat Different

  1. Clear founding mission، Effat was not built to be an ordinary women's college but to open fields historically closed to Saudi women (architecture, engineering). That mission shows in every detail.
  2. Triple international accreditation (AACSB + ABET + NASAD)، extremely rare globally for a women's university to hold all three.
  3. King Faisal Foundation sponsorship، the same sponsor as Alfaisal University, meaning strong institutional standards, stable funding, and an influential alumni network.
  4. Campus designed for women، a safe and comprehensive academic environment (sports, arts, full facilities).
  5. Strong academic psychology department، among the best Saudi women's psychology programs according to specialists.
