GOSI Retirement Pension Estimator 2026, Calculate It Accurately
Interactive GOSI pension estimator built on Articles 16-17 of the new Social Insurance Law and the old-system pension bylaw — with an explicit note on what could not be officially confirmed.
Most GOSI pension calculators online use one simplified formula (average wage × years × 2.5%) with no distinction between the old system and the new one that took effect on 3 July 2024. This calculator separates the two, and tells you explicitly when no confirmed official number exists rather than inventing one.
The Official Formula — New System (from 3 July 2024)
The new Social Insurance Law, issued by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 1022 dated 26/12/1445H, states in Article 16 that the statutory retirement age is "the sixty-fifth year" (65), and in Article 17 gives the calculation formula, quoted verbatim:
"The pension is calculated by multiplying (2.25%) by the average contributory wage or salary... by the number of contribution months, dividing the result by (12)" — not to exceed 100% of the average wage.
In practical terms:
Monthly pension = 2.25% × average contributory wage × (contribution months ÷ 12)
The average wage here is computed from the highest 180 contribution months (15 years) — not just the last 24 months as under the old system. That's a meaningful structural difference: it blunts the effect of any late-career salary jump.
Worked example: average wage 12,000 SAR, 20 years of contribution (240 months):
- Pension = 12,000 × 2.25% × (240 ÷ 12) = 12,000 × 0.0225 × 20 = 5,400 SAR/month
Eligibility at the standard age: at least 180 months (15 years) of contribution. Early retirement: allowed up to 10 years before the standard age (from age 55), provided at least 360 months (30 years) of contribution — the text confirms "a reduction is applied to the pension" but gave no verbatim-quotable percentage in what we could access, so it is not included in the calculator.
The Official Formula — Old System (everyone outside the new one)
Anyone who, as of 3 July 2024, was already 50 Hijri years or older, or had 20 years (240 months) of contribution or more, stays under the old system unchanged — GOSI's own awareness page states this group is governed by "the current systems without any change." Its formula, from the pensions branch benefits bylaw:
Pension = average wage (last 24 contribution months) × [(contribution months before 1/1/1422H ÷ 600) + (contribution months from 1422H onward ÷ 480)]
Dividing by 480 for a full 12-month year works out to exactly 2.5% per year (the commonly cited "1/40" rule); dividing by 600 works out to 2% per year (the older rate, applying to periods before roughly March 2001). For anyone whose entire contribution history started after 2001 — most people retiring today — only the ÷480 term applies, which is exactly the 2.5%/year figure.
Worked example: average wage of the last two years 10,000 SAR, 30 full years of contribution entirely after 2001:
- Pension = 10,000 × (360 ÷ 480) = 10,000 × 0.75 = 7,500 SAR/month
Eligibility at age 60: at least 120 months (10 years) of contribution. Early retirement: at least 300 months (25 years) of contribution, with no stated age floor in the text we accessed — but with an unnumbered "reduction percentage" in the sources we checked, so it is likewise excluded from the calculator's math for the same reason as the new system.
The Third Group — Transitional
Anyone who was under 50 Hijri years old with under 20 years of contribution as of 3 July 2024, but who was already insured before that date, falls into a separate transitional category entirely distinct from the two systems above: their retirement age rises gradually between 58 and 65 (Gregorian years) depending on their exact age at the reform's effective date (increments starting at 4 months), and their required early-retirement duration rises gradually between 300 and 360 months. We could not find this sliding table published in full, quotable numeric form on gosi.gov.sa or laws.boe.gov.sa despite direct searches — so the calculator above, when this group is selected, shows no number at all and points straight to the Taminaty app instead.
How the Calculator Above Works
- Applies the old- or new-system formula exactly as chosen, with no extra rounding
- Automatically splits old-system contribution months before/after 1422H (defaults to zero pre-2001 months unless you enter otherwise)
- Applies the 100%-of-average-wage cap stated in Article 17
- Checks the minimum contribution period before showing any figure, and tells you plainly if you fall short
- Applies no early-retirement discount — selecting "early retirement" shows the pre-discount figure with an explicit warning
- Applies no guaranteed minimum pension floor — the figures we found for this floor conflicted across sources (SAR 1,500 for certain cases, ~SAR 1,984 for disability top-ups, and an SAR 4,000 figure that did not survive a verbatim re-check), so none were built into the math to avoid showing a possibly-wrong number
Everything runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
Common Mistakes When Estimating a GOSI Pension Yourself
- Assuming 2.5%/year applies to everyone: that is the old-system rate for contribution after 2001 only. Anyone insured for the first time after 3 July 2024 has a 2.25% rate under an entirely different formula.
- Averaging the last 24 months of wages under the new system: wrong — the new system uses the highest 180 months, which dampens the effect of a sudden late-career raise.
- Ignoring the minimum contribution requirement: under 120 months (old system) or 180 months (new system) at the standard age means no pension at all, regardless of salary.
- Confusing early- and standard-retirement duration requirements: early retirement requires a longer contribution period (300 or 360 months) than retiring at the standard age.
- Treating any calculator's output, including this one, as final: no calculator, this one included, knows your actual registered wage history or your precise legal category with full certainty — only Taminaty does.

A note on accuracy: the rates and thresholds above were taken directly from gosi.gov.sa and laws.boe.gov.sa on 16 September 2026. Wherever a figure could not be confirmed (the early-retirement discount percentage, the guaranteed minimum pension floor, the transitional group's full schedule), it was deliberately left unnumbered rather than guessed.
