Saudi Salary Dates 2026-2027: Government, Sanad & Pension Calendar
A live, auto-updating calendar of Saudi government salary, Citizen Account, Social Security, and pension payout dates, with the weekend early-deposit rule explained.
Knowing exactly when your salary lands each month is a daily operational matter for most Saudis، bills, installments, rent, family expenses. The problem is that popular sources mix old rules (27 Hijri) with rules still in effect (27 Gregorian) and rules that changed in 2024 (pensions moved from 27 Hijri to 1 Gregorian). This guide corrects the record and provides a live calendar for every upcoming deposit.
The Official Salary Payment Rules
Each government body follows a fixed date on a specific calendar (Gregorian for most, Hijri only for the legacy Social Security), with a unified weekend rule from the Ministry of Finance.
1. Government Employee Salary
| Criterion | Details | |---|---| | Date | 27th of every Gregorian month | | Reference calendar | Gregorian | | Paying entity | Ministry of Finance, via bank transfer | | Weekend rule | Friday → preceding Thursday; Saturday → following Sunday | | Notification channel | SMS from your bank on deposit | | Official source | 2026 Payroll Schedule، Ministry of Finance |
This rule is officially anchored on the Gregorian calendar. Some older sources still cite the "27 Hijri" rule، that was the previous rule before the Ministry of Finance unified the schedule on the Gregorian calendar.
2. Pension Salaries (General Organization for Social Insurance)
| Criterion | Details | |---|---| | Date | 1st of every Gregorian month | | Reference calendar | Gregorian | | Paying entity | General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) | | Weekend rule | Friday → preceding Thursday; Saturday → following Sunday | | Covered categories | Civilian retirees + military retirees + GOSI-insured + retiree heirs | | Official source | gosi.gov.sa، Unified pension disbursement decision effective May 1, 2024 |
Important note: Before May 2024, pensions were paid on the 27th Hijri (with government employees). The new unification moved them to the 1st Gregorian, meaning an earlier monthly deposit and a fixed Gregorian date. If you read "27 Hijri for pensions" in another source, that source is out of date.
3. Citizen Account
| Criterion | Details | |---|---| | Date | 10th of every Gregorian month | | Reference calendar | Gregorian | | Paying entity | Ministry of Human Resources via the Citizen Account Program | | Weekend rule | Friday → preceding Thursday; Saturday → following Sunday | | Official link | ca.gov.sa |
4. Developed Social Security
| Criterion | Details | |---|---| | Date | 1st of every Gregorian month | | Reference calendar | Gregorian | | Paying entity | Ministry of Human Resources، Developed Social Security system | | Weekend rule | Friday → Thursday; Saturday → Sunday | | Key condition | Monthly eligibility criteria met (re-evaluated every month) |
5. Legacy Social Security Pension (limited category)
Paid on the 8th of every Hijri month for the beneficiaries still on the legacy system before their optional migration to Developed Social Security. This category shrinks gradually as beneficiaries move to the new system.
Quick Comparison Table
| Payment | Calendar | Day | Paying Entity | |---|---|---|---| | Government salary | Gregorian | 27 | Ministry of Finance | | Pensions | Gregorian | 1 | GOSI | | Citizen Account | Gregorian | 10 | Citizen Account | | Developed Social Security | Gregorian | 1 | Human Resources | | Legacy Social Security | Hijri | 8 | Human Resources |
All major salaries today are on the Gregorian calendar، meaning the month position no longer drifts across the year (unlike the Hijri calendar, which used to put 27 Ramadan in July one year and August another). This is a deliberate financial stabilization after the 2024 unification.
How the Weekend Rule Works
Saudi government banking systems do not execute on Fridays and Saturdays (the official weekend). Therefore:
- Date falls on Friday → moves to the preceding Thursday
- Date falls on Saturday → moves to the following Sunday
This rule is documented in the Ministry of Finance 2026 payroll circular: "If the 27th of the Gregorian month falls on a Friday, the disbursement day shall be the preceding Thursday; if it falls on a Saturday, the disbursement day shall be the following Sunday."
Historical Context، from SAMA 2000 to Ministry of Finance 2026
The founding reference is Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) circular no. 211000000091, issued August 28, 2000 (28 Jumada I 1421 AH), titled "Executive Rules for Disbursing Government Employee Salaries". In its original text, the disbursement day was the 25th of the Hijri month, with a Friday-only shift rule (Friday → the following day, 26 Hijri). It also included an explicit Ramadan exception: "The Ramadan salary each year shall be paid at the beginning of the 20th of the month"، i.e., Ramadan salary is advanced to 20 Ramadan.
Since that founding, the Ministry of Finance has progressively evolved the rules: shifting the calendar from Hijri to Gregorian, adjusting the weekend rule to also cover Saturday (Saturday → Sunday), and unifying pension schedules onto the 1st Gregorian (May 2024). The Ministry of Finance 2026 schedule is the reference for actual disbursement dates today.
Note on the original Ramadan rule (20 Ramadan): reviewing the actual Ministry of Finance 2026 schedule confirms this rule is no longer applied. The February 2026 salary (during Ramadan) was paid on Thursday February 26 (9 Ramadan)، this is the standard 27 Gregorian moved back by the weekend rule only (27 Feb = Friday → preceding Thursday), not an advance to 20 Ramadan. The Ramadan rule is part of the 2000 framework superseded by the current Gregorian-based schedule.
The Official 2026 Schedule (Ministry of Finance)
These are the actual dates published by Ministry of Finance، Media Center:
| Gregorian Month | Day | Gregorian Date | Hijri Date | Note | |---|---|---|---|---| | January | Tuesday | 27/01/2026 | 08/08/1447 |، | | February | Thursday | 26/02/2026 | 09/09/1447 | Advanced (27 = Friday) | | March | Thursday | 26/03/2026 | 07/10/1447 | Advanced (27 = Friday) | | April | Monday | 27/04/2026 | 10/11/1447 |، | | May | Sunday | 24/05/2026 | 07/12/1447 | Eid al-Adha advance | | June | Sunday | 28/06/2026 | 13/01/1448 | Delayed (27 = Saturday) | | July | Monday | 27/07/2026 | 13/02/1448 |، | | August | Thursday | 27/08/2026 | 14/03/1448 |، | | September | Sunday | 27/09/2026 | 16/04/1448 |، | | October | Tuesday | 27/10/2026 | 16/05/1448 |، | | November | Thursday | 26/11/2026 | 16/06/1448 | Advanced (27 = Friday) | | December | Sunday | 27/12/2026 | 18/07/1448 |، |
Eid al-Adha exception (May 2026): the date was advanced from Wednesday May 27 to Sunday May 24 (a full 3-day shift)، not driven by the weekend rule but by advancing the Eid al-Adha salary before the official holiday begins. Eid al-Adha 1447 AH (10 Dhu al-Hijjah) falls approximately on May 27, 2026, and advancing the salary to the last business day before the holiday is a traditional exception in the government schedule.
The interactive calendar above applies this rule automatically for every payment type and marks adjusted days with "(early)" or "(delayed)" labels.
When Are Salaries Actually Deposited?
Deposits start after midnight on the scheduled day, but visibility in your account depends on:
- The bank: some reflect transfers instantly, others take hours.
- Batch size: banks process deposits in batches; recipients at the tail of the batch see funds hours later.
- Receiving channel: direct bank transfer is faster than alternative routes.
Practical tip: enable SMS notifications from your bank instead of refreshing the app all night.
How the Interactive Calendar Works
The calendar above runs entirely inside your browser، no server, no tracking, no data sharing:
- Gregorian dates are computed directly from the Gregorian calendar.
- Hijri dates (Legacy Social Security only) are computed via
Intl.DateTimeFormatwith theislamic-umalquraoption، the same source as the official Umm Al-Qura calendar. - The official Ministry of Finance weekend rule is applied automatically (Friday → Thursday, Saturday → Sunday).
- Past deposits are hidden; the next twelve months of upcoming deposits are shown.
- The countdown updates second by second for the next upcoming payment.
- You can filter by payment type to focus on what applies to you.
Additional FAQ
Can salaries be paid early for any reason? No. The government follows a unified schedule that only shifts for the weekend rule. For urgent needs, some banks offer a "salary advance" under their own terms.
What if my salary is delayed past its date? Check your bank app first (the deposit may already be recorded but the SMS lagged). If 24 hours pass, contact your employer's HR or your bank's customer service.
Does the early/delayed weekend rule apply to the private sector? No. The private sector is governed by the Wage Protection System and the employment contract between the employee and the establishment، each company sets its own day and rule.
How do I know my private-sector salary date? Check your employment contract، some companies pay at the end of the Gregorian month, others on the 7th or 10th. The Wage Protection System requires payment within the first 7 days after the agreed pay cycle ends.
