Iqama renewal is a recurring procedure for every resident in Saudi Arabia and it triggers immediate penalties on delay. This guide walks through the current process via Absher and Muqeem, explains the independent fee components, and clarifies the deadlines you must observe.

Where Iqama Is Renewed Officially

There are three issuing channels:

3. Annual Labor Office Fee (Foreign Workforce Fee)

Paid by the employer annually for each non-Saudi worker (calculated against the establishment's Saudization rate). Rates differ between small and large establishments. It cannot be charged to the worker under Article 40 of the Labor Law.

• "Payment made but renewal not showing": the system waits for the interbank settlement cycle (up to 24 working hours). After that, call Absher support on 19091.
• "No bill number": usually because the dependents' fee or Labor Office fee is not fully settled. Pay them first and retry.
• "Renewal won't proceed at all": check the iqama isn't already expired — once it is, the electronic path closes and you must visit a Jawazat office.
• "Passport expires before the iqama year ends": the system requires passport validity to exceed the iqama duration. Renew the passport first at your country's consulate.

When to Visit a Jawazat Office Directly

Statutory exceptions requiring an in-person visit:
