Guide to Nafath — linking to Absher, signing in to government services, activating the app, and why it sometimes fails.
Nafath is Saudi Arabia's official single sign-on system for government services — connecting to platforms like Qiwa, Sakani, Citizen Account, Social Security, Sehhaty, Najiz, Nusuk, and 530+ other government and private platforms. It's operated by the National Information Center (NIC) under SDAIA in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior. URL: nafath.sa or the "Nafath" app.
Why Nafath exists
Before Nafath, each government platform had its own account:
- One account in Qiwa, one in Sakani, one in GOSI, one in Education…
- A separate password for each, sometimes with different data.
- Forgetting one meant complex re-registration.
Nafath solved this by making Absher data (tied to your national ID, biometrics, and photo) the single source of truth. Any platform that needs to confirm you are "you" asks via Nafath, which asks Absher and confirms or denies.
How Nafath actually works
Take signing in to Qiwa as an example:
- You open qiwa.sa and click "Sign In."
- Nafath screen appears.
- You enter your ID number.
- A notification appears in the Nafath app on your phone with a random number (e.g., "47").
- The same number is shown on the Qiwa screen.
- If they match, you press "Approve" in the app.
- Qiwa opens — you're in.
The random number prevents fraud — no one can trick you into signing in to a fake site because the number won't match.
First-time app activation

Signing in to any service via Nafath
After activation, signing in to any government platform is easier than getting coffee:
- Go to the platform's site (Qiwa, Sakani, Sehhaty…) and choose "Sign in with Nafath."
- Enter your ID number.
- A number appears on the screen — look at your phone.
- Notification in Nafath app with a matching number.
- Press "Approve" + face or PIN.
- The platform opens — no password per platform needed.
Alternatives to the app
What if you don't want the Nafath app?
- SMS: the system sends a verification code from a short number. Enter it in the platform.
- Automated call: the system calls your mobile and states the verification code.
Both alternatives work, but SMS is less secure (can be intercepted in rare cases). The app remains the best.

Nafath for residents
Residents (iqama holders) use Nafath the same way, provided their data is correct in Absher (iqama number, birthdate, photo, mobile). Residents can sign in to: Qiwa, Musaned, Sehhaty, Najiz, etc. Some services are Saudi-only (Sakani, Citizen Account) regardless of Nafath.
Nafath Business (for establishments)
A separate version for establishments, letting a company's authorised representative sign in to business services: Qiwa (as an employer), Absher Business, ZATCA tax platform, and more. Activation requires linking the commercial registration to the representative's ID.
Nafath security
- Never share your PIN with anyone.
- Never approve a sign-in you didn't initiate: a common scam. If a notification arrives and you weren't signing in, reject it.
- Keep the app updated: updates patch vulnerabilities.
- If you lose your phone: from the Nafath website via browser, deactivate, then activate on a new phone.

Nafath provides this verification layer in practice when signing official documents on government platforms such as Najiz, Qiwa, and ZATCA.
